NEED A HAND?

Let's find an answer.

Common questions about the reading experience.

01Where is my reading progress saved?

Pages read, completed activities, and preferences are saved on the Apple TV you use. The app does not provide an account or its own sync between devices.

02How do I use my photos in the drawing activity?

Open the drawing activity and allow photo library access when the system asks. You choose which images to use. If access is blocked, review the permission in your Apple TV settings.

03Can I remove a photo I selected?

Yes. In the drawing activity, choose the option to remove the photo. This deletes the copy stored by Otterlines without deleting the original from your photo library.

04How do I change narration and the font?

In reading settings, you can choose narration, background sound, text reveal, and the OpenDyslexic font.

PRIVACY, MADE CLEAR

Your stories stay
with you.

Otterlines is designed for families to enjoy reading together. Below, we explain in plain language what data the app uses, where it stays, and the choices you have.

In short: the app does not require an account. Your progress, preferences, and copies of photos selected for the drawing activity are stored on your Apple TV. This page does not receive your message: the form opens your email app.

What data does the app use?

Otterlines saves reading and activity progress, questions already seen, onboarding completion, and reading, narration, and sound preferences on your device. This helps you pick up where you left off and keeps your choices.

You do not need to provide a name or email address or create an account to read and play.

Photo library and drawing activity

If you open the drawing activity, Otterlines asks for system permission to access the Apple TV photo library. You can change this permission in your device settings. The app displays available images and, when you finish selecting them, stores smaller copies of the selected photos in your Apple TV's local cache.

You can remove these copies in the activity. Removing them does not delete the originals. Because the copies are stored in a cache, the system may also clear them to free up space. If your photos are in iCloud, Apple's system may download them for display.

Sending and sharing

In the version of the app described here, there are no accounts, ads, or usage analytics tools. Reading progress and photo copies are not sent to servers operated by the Otterlines team. Access to the photo library and any image syncing through iCloud are Apple system features, governed by your choices and Apple's policies.

Children and their caregivers

Children may use Otterlines with adult guidance. A parent or other responsible adult should select photos and send or supervise email messages. Please avoid emailing sensitive information or photos of children unless necessary.

Your choices and rights

You can change photo library permissions in your Apple TV settings and remove copied photos within the drawing activity. For questions about local data or requests to access, correct, or delete information you sent to our team, email otterlines.app@gmail.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

Progress and preferences are stored locally by the app; the system may remove them when you delete the app. Otterlines does not provide its own way to restore that data.

This site and your messages

This page does not use its own cookies, advertising, or analytics tools. The form below only prepares a message and opens your email app; nothing you type is sent by the site before you confirm sending it. The service hosting this page may log technical access information, such as an IP address, under its own policy.

If you email us, we receive your email address and message to reply and handle your request. We keep the conversation for as long as needed for that purpose or to meet legal obligations. You can request deletion at the same address. We will publish material changes to this policy here with a new date.
